As I was sitting on Metacafe, searching for middle of the night videos that would put me to sleep (namely Will & Grace), I came across an old song by Underoath that I listened to years ago. Actually, my senior year of high school. That was almost five years ago, sitting with Tom H. in the lunch room of our high school singing and screaming this song together.
As I listened to this song’s lyrics tonight, waves of honest emotion came over my entire being. I was being covered once again with the unavoidable urge to remember forgiveness, to remember love, to remember grace, to lay down before all of humanity and plead to them love. A violently true love that accepts all just as we are, for nothing more than being part of this all encompassing humanity we all find ourselves in.
Some Will Seek Forgivness, Others Escape by Underoath
I heard a voice through the discord
A deluge of passersby
I saw one gaze frozen in time
Watching me passing by
And I swear I’ll know your face in the crowd
And I’ll hear your voice so loud
When you’re whispering
Hey unfaithful I will teach you
To be stronger, to be stronger
Hey ungraceful I will teach you
To forgive one another.
Here’s my kiss to betray (Kiss to betray)
Desperate to brush the lips of grace (Brush the lips of grace)
Do you feel hollow when you think of how I lied?
Oh sweet angel of mercy
With your grace like the morning
Wrap your loving arms around me
Oh sweet angel of mercy
With your grace like the morning
Wrap your loving arms around me
Hey unfaithful I will teach you
To be stronger, to be stronger
Hey ungraceful I will teach you
To forgive one another
Peace, today.
